We are happy to announce the 36th International Conference on Alpine Meteorology. The ICAM 2023 Plenary Sessions will be held as a hybrid event in St. Gallen, Switzerland, from 19 to 23 June 2023. The Plenary Sessions will feature 24’+6’ invited talks, 12’+3’ oral presentations as well as very short oral poster pitches and will be broadcast over Zoom with the possibility to ask questions for participants on-site as well as on-line. The fully on-line Poster Sessions on Gather.town will take place on Tuesday 27 June 2023 (note that Gather.town will also be available during the week of the hybrid event in St. Gallen to allow for spontaneous in-person poster discussions following the poster pitches).

Papers are invited on all aspects of mountain weather and climate, including but not limited to

  • Dynamics of dry and moist orographically forced airflow

  • Boundary layer processes over complex terrain

  • Orographic clouds and precipitation

  • Mountain climates and impacts of global warming

  • Meteorological processes affecting air quality, water resources, renewable energy harvesting, ecosystems, urban environment, and infrastructures

  • Numerical weather prediction over complex terrain (incl. data assimilation and predictability studies)

  • Challenges in weather forecasting in mountainous areas

  • Recent and future field campaigns

The hybrid Plenary Sessions (oral presentations) will be held at the Conference Hotel Einstein.

ICAM 2023 is jointly organised by the Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology MeteoSwiss and the ETH Zurich.

The European Meteorological Society (EMS) kindly sponsors one Young Scientist Conference Award for ICAM 2023. Likewise, the Swiss Society for Meteorology (SGM) sponsors three Student Conference Awards for ICAM 2023. The winners of the awards have already been selected and will be announced during the conference. - Thanks to both EMS and SGM for supporting young scientists to attend the 36th International Conference on Alpine Meteorology!
